Luigi Turra (b. 1975) is an Italian sound artist.
His research lies within the field of reductionist electroacoustic music, with a specific focus on the balance between silence, tactile sound perception, and aleatoric processes. Through the manipulation of concrete, acoustic, and digital sound sources — including human voices, micro-noises, and environmental resonances — Turra constructs sonic architectures characterized by extended pauses, abrasive timbral tensions, and rarefied configurations. His approach, rooted in the tradition of musique concrète and acousmatic listening, pursues the extreme reduction of sonic material, bringing it back to its archetypal dimension and exploring the beauty of imperfection and indeterminacy.
His works are released by international labels such as Die Schachtel, mAtter, Non Visual Objects, and/OAR, LINE, Dragon’s Eye Recordings, Trente Oiseaux, and 901 Editions.
In 2026 he is a finalist for the Prix Russolo.
In parallel with his compositional activity, Turra works as a graphic designer, a practice that informs his sensitivity to form, negative space, and processes of subtraction — elements that run transversally through his sonic poetics.
